5 reasons to leverage Azure Bot Framework

Humans have been running the show for a long time when it comes to managing applications, business processes, and surfacing up insights. And here at FlexManage, we’ve been working diligently on an application that leverages Azure Bot Framework, which (as Microsoft explains it) “enables you to build and connect intelligent bots to interact with your users naturally wherever they are – from your website or app to Cortana, Skype, Teams, Office 365 mail, Slack, Facebook Messenger, Skype for Business, and more.”

On that note, I wanted to share with you 5 key reasons that your business needs a bot… ASAP.

(1) Utilizing the Azure Bot Framework is simple and effective

“Make the business case for a bot,” you say? Ok, then… I want you to think about your day. How many repeatable processes do you have? A bot can likely do it for you, no matter how complex – the only necessity is that the process is logical in nature. Do you have a call script? Do you offer food delivery? Implementing a bot would help you navigate to reference material quickly, take down information, and get straight to the answers. Do you have clients who ask common questions? Implement a QnA bot with preserved responses that recognize natural language. Do you support international customers and require 24/7 assistance? Leave your bot on as a useful resource for your customers and reduce your support crew. No matter how you use it, it’s guaranteed to increase productivity and enable your users.

(2) Chatting is natural

We already chat. We already practice chat functionality in Text Messaging, Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp. We might chat with a bot when we need customer support from Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T. This pattern has developed in our society as a natural function throughout the world. Build and connect intelligent bots to interact with your users with the Azure Bot Framework.

(3) Bots live in the cloud

No extra hardware is necessary to implement a bot. The bot lives in the cloud and can be referenced on your website or internal application through straight-forward API calls. Living in the cloud has it’s benefits. Your bot will be always available and fault-tolerant. That translates to a worker with minimal cost, no bed time, and who never gets sick. Talk about a win!

(4) High user engagement

So, most businesses incorporate some form of chatbot. Some are client-facing while some are internal to assist and enable your team. When you incorporate an interactive machine into your workflow, you get quite a few benefits.

Bots offer insights regardless of where your facts live. The bot can get that information and return the answer in insightful visuals without ever having to leave your homepage. This “Bot Effect” gives the user a quick and thorough understanding of their business without fishing around for it. As you can imagine, once implemented, they are on to the next piece of their workflow quickly and effectively.

We’ve come a long way from the traditional chat bot and it has become a very powerful tool. When done right, people feel like they are being helped and making progress on their issues. It’s definitely a motivating tool for productivity and answers.

(5) Innovative improvements

Through implementing logic called “conversation steps,” we can redirect our users into different areas where the bot can be more comprehensive with your requests. The requests can reach into almost any service or data lake and retrieve powerful insights. Azure Bot Framework has built in libraries that can be used to analyze which messages your bot is sending the most and see which conversations are happening and how frequently. Are your users getting jammed up and leaving a session before they finish? Why?

Through a cloud hosted framework and continuous integration, we can seamlessly deploy bots to almost any environment and measure the feedback they make along the way.

Bots are no longer the future… they’re here to stay. Humans are adapting and at some point, businesses will need to make a choice and determine if bots assist our workforce or replace it. Until then, reap the benefits of owning your own custom bot.
